If you are not wanting the Pacific Ocean as your backdrop, an option you may want to consider is heading to Palm Springs. There are some cool/hip hotels large and boutique (having been many times over the years I am very familiar with the hotels), in amongst the various cities there. Guests can stay at a variety of accommodations/be loyal to their brand if they prefer and to drive from one city to another is minutes/not long at all. Palm Springs has that reputation of being special due to it’s celebrity past and that can certainly make your event more unique and special to the guests wanting to be a part of your destination wedding, and pre or post wedding, they can take the 1 1/2 hour drive back to the ocean to stay a few more days and do the touristy things in the OC or San Diego/Los Angeles, or if local, just drive home but feel like they had a lovely break with family that they don’t normally get to spend that kind of quality time with.
Now, they tell me in the summer, it cools down around 5pm so you can still do a summer evening wedding there, but I have been there in the hotter months and I don’t like being made to stay inside because it is just too hot to be outside or going anywhere/doing anything, so my thinking is, if you are looking for Nov-April it can be quite warm out there, I was there a week ago (last week of March) and at noon it was 94 degrees, now two days later it was 70 degrees, but it seems to be a more comfortable time and could be 20 degrees or higher than here at the coast (because our coastal weddings are really year round, it is rare that weather can distrupt a coastal wedding in those months, but it can be cooler) so if you think your guests would prefer the warmer temps and that resort/vacation feel in our winter months, this could be a perfect solution for you.
As well as the many hotels, there are a ton of country clubs that you can get married at also. These tend to have of course those rolling green backdrops that you won’t see around a lot of Palm Springs, and always a rocky mountain towering somewhere in the distance to remind you you are in the desert. One such country club that I am now a Preferred Planner at, is the Indian Wells Country Club. Located inside a private community your guests immediately get the feeling of exclusivity and that your event is special. Lovely cere site with a water feature, lovely greens and the mountain behind, as your backdrop/what the guests are looking past you at, lovely in/out cocktail area with the view of the mountain and greens rolling alongside at the base, and then into the Bob & Delores Hope Ballroom for the dinner/dancing. Fabulous.
By having me help you plan your wedding at this location, you get:
Complimentary round of golf for the groom & 1 guest
Upgrade to wine pairing with the menu tasting
Preferred room rates at the hotel down the road (if needed/wanted)
Three upgrades to enhance your event: uplights, or the mountain lit up, chargers, and some linen options.
